Birthday Weekend

Ian and I enjoy celebrating our birthdays together every year since they are only 4 days apart.  I made Ian his favorite breakfast of a veggie egg scramble with sour dough toast.  For his family birthday dinner we made several different kinds of pastas Italian style.  Being a bit of a foodie, he loved the delicious food on his special day.

All I wanted for my birthday was a pan of gluten free brownies.  My sister-in-law Megan was so nice to make me some.  They were delicious!

We both enjoyed eating out for a joint birthday dinner at Roy's to celebrate our 30th birthdays!

Fall Happenings

Here are a few things we've been up to lately....

For Ian's birthday we drove down to Santa Monica and got dinner along the beach.  Hors d'oeuvres were bread and cheese and Henry Weinhardt root beer (a little odd I know, but they are Ian's favorites).

I went to Salt Lake City for Conference Weekend.  It was nice to spend time with family and as always, the weekend went so fast.  Almost all the sisters were together (we missed you Jennie).
I got to babysit my darling nephew.  I was tempted to sneak him home with me.
We stayed with my Anderson grandparents.  We always get the royal treatment at their house.
This picture is a little bit unrelated but last year I made this costume for my little brother Nathan to wear for Halloween.  Kristen will be showing it off to her middle school students this year.

The buzz this last week in Los Angeles was the space shuttle Endeavor making its way to the science museum.  Last weekend drove to see it as it was being pulled through the streets of LA.  This is as close as we were able to get but still very cool.

Birthday Weekend

We love having our birthdays so close together - we have yet another excuse to head to the mountains and enjoy a long weekend together. This year's birthday weekend took us to lovely Avon, Colorado where we enjoyed General Conference, biking, eating, and relaxing.

The fall colors were in their full splendor and we enjoyed the views as we biked down Vail Pass. This is an Anderson Family tradition so I was thrilled to join in the celebration of gravity as we tore down the mountain at speeds upwards to 35 MPH. We wore through our breaks quickly though with frequent stops to enjoy the beautiful leaves of the aspen trees.

Annie and I also enjoyed a fantastic meal at Avondale. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner and the HAPPY BIRTHDAY cupcake was a nice touch. However, the culinary highlight of the evening was dessert. Take a guess at what we ordered...

We capped off the weekend by enjoying General Conference (conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where the apostles and leaders speak to the world) and having a nice picnic outside. How we love birthday weekend.

No Evidence

Ian and I had such a fun weekend celebrating both of our birthdays and sadly this picture is the only evidence we have of our weekend adventures!

What you are looking at is a picture of the most delectable french fries ever made- french fries made with truffle oil and topped with fresh parmesan cheese and parsley.  My mouth is salivating just looking at them right now!  Yumm!  They come from a new gourmet hamburger restaurant called Larkburger in Colorado.  We ate these (and a very expensive burger) on the way up to Sedalia to camp overnight.

While camping we got to try out a new game called Appletters and watched the movie, Waking Ned Divine.  I made my first flourless chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce (thanks to Ian's mom for the great recipe) and we took it up with us to celebrate Ian's birthday.  We really enjoyed being in the mountains and camping for one of the last times this season.

Ian surprised me this morning on my birthday and stayed home from work (which means he delayed his flight to California a day) so we could spend the day together!  To start the day off, we got to play tennis with my mom and dad.  Tonight we had a picnic dinner with food from my favorite restaurant at a nearby park.  What a great weekend!
